My name is Jewels Davis, and I’m a junior in the Class of 2027 at Villanova University majoring in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience. I’m also minoring in Deaf Studies, Disability Studies, Psychology, and in the Honors program. I’m excited to join the LUV Lab because I’m really interested in how language is processed in the brain and how communication works across different lived experiences, especially through the lens of Deaf culture and accessibility. My work and coursework connected to the Deaf community has made me especially interested in language beyond just “speech,” and how identity, access, and cognition shape the way people express and understand meaning. Long-term, I plan to attend medical school and become an OB/GYN, and I’m excited to build research experience that strengthens the way I think about people, communication, and care.
